Glossary
Short definitions of the terminology used across the UGSD site.
- ZDB
- Zero-Distinction Baseline; the reference state relative to which realized relational distinctions are represented.
- Event
- One complete compensated event, represented as E = (+, −).
- Compensation
- Constraint that local residuals can exist while the global relational accounting remains balanced.
- Residual
- Local imbalance rᵢ obtained from incoming and outgoing relational counts.
- Compatibility
- The admissibility relation restricting which configurations can follow a given relational state.
- Configuration Cₙ
- A realized relational state at a given ordering step.
- Open class
- A non-recurrent compatible response class.
- Recurrent class
- A finite relational class that returns under compatible evolution.
- Closure
- A recurrent or self-consistent relational organization; not necessarily a geometric circle.
- Bound compensation
- Compensation that belongs to a persistent recurrent configuration.
- Radiative compensation
- Open response associated with dynamical change.
- Coarse-graining
- Mapping many relational events into effective continuous variables or equations.
- Calibration
- Empirical mapping between UGSD variables and measured SI quantities.
- Response branch
- An effective sector or eigenresponse emerging from the same underlying architecture.
